The Canon EOS R1 is a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera featuring a new 24.2MP back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor and DIGIC Accelerator processor. This advanced sensor enables fast read-out speeds, reduces electronic shutter rolling shutter distortion, and improves low-light performance. The camera supports up to 40 frames per second for RAW, JPEG, or HEIF (HDR-PQ) capture using the electronic shutter. It includes in-camera upscaling via deep learning, allowing users to double the resolution of a JPEG image—increasing a 24MP file to 96MP—in approximately 10 seconds while preserving the original. The body is wipe-clean and made in Japan.
