Does Kohl's price match?

Yes, in two ways. Kohl's stores may match a competitor's in-store price when you bring a printed copy of the competitor's local ad with the current price and item description, and they match Kohls.com prices on identical items. Kohl's stores don't match competitors' online prices. For Kohls.com items, Kohl's matches a direct competitor's online price, meaning a non-wholesale retailer with physical stores and an online presence, if the item is identical, new and in-box and the price can be verified on the competitor's website. Coupons can't be applied to a price-matched item, coupon-excluded merchandise isn't eligible, and Kohl's can limit quantities.

Does Kohl's match Amazon or its own online price in store?

Amazon: not named. Kohl's stores don't match any competitor's online price, and the Kohls.com match covers only direct competitors with physical stores and an online presence. FAQ 90 doesn't say whether Amazon counts, so ask Kohl's Customer Service before you rely on it. Kohls.com: yes. How many days do I have for a price adjustment at Kohl's?

14 days. Kohl's adjusts if the sale or regular price is now lower than the price you paid "in the prior two weeks" and you have the original, dated sales receipt, so the receipt date starts the clock. Items bought on sale qualify as well as regular-price items. The item can't be clearance, BOGO or Kohl's Cares, and the drop can't fall in a period Kohl's has excluded. Store purchases are adjusted in store; online orders go through Customer Service.

What if the price drops after the 14-day window?

Then it's outside Kohl's policy. According to askprice price-tracking data, 37.1% of further Kohl's price drops came on days 15–30 after a markdown, after the window had closed. Your fallback is the return window: return the item and buy it again at the lower price, after you check the Kohl's Cash math below.

Can I get a price adjustment on Black Friday, clearance or BOGO items?

Clearance and BOGO, no; Black Friday, possibly not. Kohl's excludes clearance markdowns, Kohl's Cares merchandise and items bought as part of a BOGO deal or currently in a BOGO promotion. FAQ 88 also says Kohl's "may, from time to time, identify additional time periods where price adjustments are not available in its sole discretion." It doesn't name the dates; third-party guides mention Thanksgiving week, but Kohl's doesn't. If you buy in early November and the price drops on Black Friday, ask before you count on the difference.

Can I use a coupon on a price-matched item?

No. Kohl's doesn't allow coupons on a price-matched item, and coupon-excluded merchandise can't be price matched. You still earn Kohl's Cash and Kohl's Rewards on the purchase, and you can still redeem Kohl's Cash. Compare two totals before you ask: the matched price, or Kohl's own price minus your coupon.

Does Kohl's Cash have a grace period?

No. Kohl's Cash works only during the redemption dates printed on it, with no grace period (Kohl's FAQ 278). Employees on r/employedbykohls have asked coworkers since January 2025 to stop telling customers about a 10-day grace period.

What happens to Kohl's Cash if I return the purchase?

It depends on whether you spent it. Return items from a purchase that earned Kohl's Cash, and Kohl's recalculates the purchase: if you haven't used the Kohl's Cash yet, the coupon is reduced or voided; if you already spent it, your refund drops by the Kohl's Cash you no longer earned. Return an item you paid for with Kohl's Cash, and Kohl's puts that amount back on the original coupon if it's still valid, or issues a new coupon.

Can I just return it and buy it again at the sale price?

Yes, while the item is inside Kohl's return window: 90 days for most purchases, 120 days if you paid with a Kohl's Card, and 30 days for premium electronics, watches and mattresses. For holiday purchases made October 4 – December 30, 2026, the deadline is January 31, 2027, premium electronics and watches included. Do the math first. Returning the original purchase cuts your refund by any Kohl's Cash it earned, and Kohl's Cash you spent comes back as a coupon, not as money.

A higher Reg. price makes the same sale price look like a deeper discount, so compare dollars, not percent off.

How to request a price adjustment at Kohl's

  2. Check the exclusions. No clearance, BOGO or Kohl's Cares items, and no period Kohl's has declared closed to adjustments.

Returns & exchanges at Kohl's

  • Window: 90 days from purchase for most items, 120 days with a Kohl's Card (the current FAQ 893; older 180-day figures are out of date). For shipped online orders the window starts on the ship date.
  • Premium electronics, watches and mattresses: 30 days.
  • Kohl's Cash you earned: unused, it's reduced or voided; already spent, your refund drops by the part you no longer earned.
  • Kohl's Cash you spent: back on the original coupon if valid, or a new coupon.
  • Holiday 2026 extension: purchases made October 4 – December 30, 2026 can be returned through January 31, 2027, including premium electronics, watches, jewelry and mattresses. Sephora at Kohl's: purchases October 30 – December 30, 2026, through January 31, 2027.
  • Mail returns: you pay postage; Kohl's doesn't provide prepaid labels. Store returns are free.

FAQ

Can I get a Kohl's price adjustment without a receipt? Kohl's policy calls for the original dated receipt. Keep it, or your online order details, until the 14 days have passed.

I ordered online. Can a Kohl's store do the price adjustment? Kohl's says online purchases are adjusted through Customer Service and in-store purchases are adjusted in store. Contact Customer Service for an online order.

Can I apply a new coupon to something I already bought? Kohl's price adjustment rule covers drops in the item's sale or regular price; FAQ 88 doesn't cover a coupon released after your purchase, so ask Customer Service before you count on it. What FAQ 88 does say: coupons applied to your original purchase must still be valid to apply to a later price adjustment.

My Kohl's Cash expired yesterday. Can I still use it? No. Kohl's Cash has no grace period and works only during its printed redemption dates.

Do Kohl's Rewards expire? Yes. Rewards balances that don't convert to Kohl's Cash expire after one year.

Does paying with a Kohl's Card give me more time? For returns, yes: 120 days instead of 90. The price adjustment window is 14 days either way.
