Does Macy's price match?

No. Macy's price adjustment policy says the lower price must be an advertised Macy's price, so a cheaper price at another retailer, Amazon included, doesn't count. The one exception is mattresses: Macy's says it "will reduce our price up to a maximum of $100" if you find the same mattress for less at another full-line mattress retailer. What Macy's does offer is an adjustment against its own price: if Macy's lowers the price within 10 days of your order date, you can ask for the difference back.

How many days do I have for a price adjustment at Macy's?

You have 10 days from the order date, not the ship or delivery date. Furniture and mattresses are the exception: their 10 days run from the delivery date (White Glove, In-Home, Room of Choice) or the ship date (warehouse or vendor shipments). The policy doesn't spell out whether day 10 itself counts, and a shopper on r/MacysStores reported a denial on day 10, so ask by day 9 when you can. If delivery takes a week, most of the window is gone before the box arrives.

What if the price drops after the 10-day window?

Macy's says "promotional discounts cannot be combined with a price adjustment," so an order that used a code may get a smaller difference or none. And Last Act merchandise is final sale, sold as is: no returns, exchanges or price adjustments. "As Is" furniture is excluded too.

Does Macy's honor its online price in store?

Not necessarily. Macy's says its stores and macys.com "operate separately, so prices, products, and promotions may vary," and that "in some cases, a store sale price may be honored once the price has been verified." Nothing in the policy promises that a store will honor a lower macys.com price. Can I get a second adjustment if a new promo code appears?

Don't count on it. Macy's policy doesn't say how many adjustments one item can get. It says the lower price must be an advertised Macy's price and that promotional discounts cannot be combined with a price adjustment, so a new promo code on its own isn't a price drop under the policy. If a new code appears inside the 10 days, ask in chat with the code ready.

Can I return it and buy it again at the sale price?

Often, yes, if the item is still in stock and the return window is open: 30 days for most items, and until Jan 31, 2027 for holiday purchases made Oct 5 – Dec 31, 2026 (not Dyson or Mac Duggal). Check three things:

  • Final sale: Last Act items can't be returned.
  • Shipping: mail returns cost $9.99 for non-members; Star Rewards members return free.
  • Star Money: points earned on the original purchase are removed when you return it; if you don't have enough points left, Macy's reduces your Star Money by 1¢ per point (Star Rewards terms).

What if I paid with a gift card or a Macy's card?

Macy's says price adjustment refunds are issued to your original form of payment. Paid with a Macy's card: the credit goes back to that card account. Paid with a gift card: the policy doesn't say whether the difference returns to the same card or to a new one, so ask in chat.

Did the price change in my cart on Cyber Monday?

It can happen: a Cyber Monday post on r/MacysStores described a price rising between the product page and checkout. Adjustments work one way only: Macy's refunds the difference when the price is further reduced within 10 days of your order, not when it rises before you pay, so check the final checkout total.
